The Emperor and the Nightingale

Once upon a time, in a far-off kingdom in Denmark, there lived an Emperor who was very proud of his wealth and power. He had everything he wanted except for one thing – a beautiful songbird that could sing him to sleep every night. One day, a servant brought him news of a nightingale that had the most beautiful voice in the world.
The Emperor was overjoyed and ordered his courtiers to bring the nightingale to him. When the nightingale arrived, the Emperor was amazed by its beautiful voice. He ordered it to sing for him every night and kept it in a golden cage.
The nightingale sang for the Emperor every night and he was very pleased. However, one day, a gift arrived from the Emperor of Japan – a mechanical bird that could sing just like the nightingale. The Emperor was fascinated by the new bird and ordered it to sing for him.
The mechanical bird sang a beautiful song, and the Emperor was impressed. He ordered the nightingale to sing after the mechanical bird had finished, but the nightingale refused, saying that it would not sing in competition with a machine.

One day, the Emperor fell ill and was on his deathbed. He realized that he had been foolish to prefer a mechanical bird over the real nightingale. He longed to hear the nightingale’s song one last time.
The nightingale heard about the Emperor’s illness and returned to the kingdom. It sang for the Emperor, and its beautiful voice made him feel better. The Emperor realized the true value of the nightingale’s song and begged for its forgiveness.
