The Greedy Hyena.
The Greedy Hyena (Tanzania): Demonstrates the dangers of greed and the virtue of sharing.
Once upon a time, in the vast savannahs of Tanzania, there lived a hyena named Kito. Kito was known throughout the land for his insatiable greed. He would take whatever he could get his paws on, be it food or treasure, and hoard it all for himself.
One day, Kito came across a large stash of food that had been left unattended by a group of zebras. Without a second thought, he snatched up as much as he could carry and ran back to his den.
As Kito began to feast on the stolen food, he realized that he had taken far more than he could possibly eat. But instead of sharing with his fellow animals, he decided to keep it all for himself.
Days turned into weeks, and Kito’s hoard of food grew larger and larger. But as his greed consumed him, he began to lose sight of the world around him. He stopped hunting and scavenging, and even began to neglect his own den.
As the dry season approached, the other animals in the savannah began to suffer from the lack of food and water. They pleaded with Kito to share his abundance, but he refused, insisting that he had earned it all through his own hard work.
But as the days passed, Kito began to realize the error of his ways. His hoard of food had begun to spoil, and he had nothing left to eat. He was weak and hungry, and he knew that he would not survive the harsh conditions of the savannah alone.
With a heavy heart, Kito set out to find the other animals and ask for their forgiveness. As he wandered through the parched landscape, he saw firsthand the suffering that his greed had caused. The once-lush savannah was now a barren wasteland, and the animals were weak and desperate.
Finally, Kito came across a group of zebras who had been hit hard by the drought. Without hesitation, he offered them his remaining food, knowing that it was the right thing to do.
As the zebras feasted on the food, Kito felt a sense of peace wash over him. He realized that true happiness could not be found in hoarding wealth or possessions, but in the act of giving and sharing with others.
From that day forward, Kito became known throughout the savannah as a generous and kind-hearted hyena. He had learned the valuable lesson that greed only leads to misery, while
