The Envious Neighbor
The Envious Neighbor
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived two neighbors. One of them was a kind and helpful person, while the other was envious and always wanted what the first neighbor had. The envious neighbor was always looking for ways to bring down the other neighbor and make himself feel better.
One day, the kind neighbor bought a cow. The envious neighbor saw the cow and immediately felt jealous. He wanted a cow too, but he couldn’t afford one. So, he decided to steal the cow from the kind neighbor’s barn.
The next morning, the kind neighbor woke up to find that his cow was missing. He searched everywhere but couldn’t find it. The envious neighbor, on the other hand, had hidden the cow in his own barn.
Days passed, and the kind neighbor was devastated. He had lost his only source of income, and he didn’t know what to do. The envious neighbor, on the other hand, was enjoying the milk and cheese he was getting from the stolen cow.
One night, the envious neighbor had a dream. In his dream, he saw the kind neighbor’s cow standing in his barn, crying. The envious neighbor woke up, feeling guilty. He realized that what he had done was wrong, and he decided to return the cow to its rightful owner.
The next morning, the envious neighbor went to the kind neighbor’s house and confessed to stealing the cow. He returned the cow and apologized for his actions. The kind neighbor forgave him and even offered to share the milk and cheese from the cow with him.
From that day on, the envious neighbor learned to appreciate what he had and stopped comparing himself to others. He realized that true happiness comes from within and not from material possessions. The two neighbors became good friends and lived happily ever after.
