The Wise Old Woman
The Wise Old Woman
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in the mountains, there lived a wise old woman. She was known throughout the land for her wisdom and her ability to solve any problem that came her way. People from far and wide would come to seek her advice and guidance.
One day, a young man came to the wise old woman with a problem. He had fallen in love with a beautiful woman from a neighboring village, but her father had refused to give his blessing for the marriage. The young man was heartbroken and didn’t know what to do.
The wise old woman listened to the young man’s story and thought for a moment before she spoke. “Go to the woman’s father and ask him what you can do to earn his blessing,” she said. “If he gives you a task, complete it to the best of your ability. Show him that you are worthy of his daughter’s hand in marriage.”
The young man thanked the wise old woman and set off to speak with the woman’s father. To his surprise, the father gave him a task: he must climb to the top of the tallest mountain in the region and bring back a rare flower that grew only at its peak.
The young man set off on his journey, determined to complete the task and win the father’s approval. It was a long and difficult climb, but he eventually reached the top of the mountain and found the rare flower. He carefully picked it and began his descent.
However, on his way down, he slipped and fell, dropping the flower and injuring himself. He was devastated, thinking he had failed in his mission. But then he remembered the wise old woman’s words and decided to continue on.
He went back up the mountain, found the flower again, and made his way down safely. When he presented the flower to the woman’s father, he was impressed by the young man’s determination and dedication. He gave his blessing for the marriage, and the young man and woman were wed in a beautiful ceremony.
The wise old woman’s advice had saved the day once again, and the young man was forever grateful to her. From that day on, he became known as a wise and respected member of the community, always ready to help others in need, just like the wise old woman.
