Challenge Day Guidelines

Challenge day! To participate, users are expected to take note of the following:

  1. Participants are expected to login with their personal details, if you are sharing a device with other users. Remember to log them out and login your own account. very important.
  2. Participants can take the challenge on a computer or a phone, in case you have network issues or the computer goes off. Do not worry, just login again and the system will continue from where you stopped.
  3. Click on Update your profile, Update your profile and make sure to choose the mathematics challenge in the field “participate in”. You can also upload your photos and other details like name of school, class and state. If you already uploaded all the information you can proceed to take the challenge. very important.
  4. Click on “Take a Challenge” and proceed to take the challenge.
  5. We encourage parents/teachers to take pictures of the student while taking the challenge and share with us on whatsapp. Only send in your pictures if you permit us to use it on our social media handles.
  6. After the challenge, click on “Review” to view your report. The system will show you your report immediately with corrections on the challenge you completed, letting you know why you got some of the questions wrong.
  7. Visit your profile page to see your new virtual badges and points.
  8. Request a physical copy of your certificate of participation and free “I Love Maths” badge.
  9. See you at the next challenge!

**It is very important to note that this challenge is not targeted at winning a prize, but rather improving students’ performance. We expect participants to take this challenge with integrity. The finals will be monitored, and if there are any discrepancies between the unmonitored challenge and the monitored challenge, participants will be disqualified. Extremely important.

What should I be expecting for the examination?

  • For primary students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, the challenge will be based on past Common Entrance Questions. Some of the questions may have been drafted from other schools’ entrance exams.
  • For junior and senior secondary students in 1st and 2nd years, the challenge will be based on mathematics topics for their respective classes as outlined in the Nigerian Schools Curriculum. However, general questions will also be included to cater to students attending schools using other curriculums such as British or American.
  • For junior and senior secondary students in 3rd years, the challenge will be based on related external examinations.

What are the requirements to participate in the challenge?

To participate in the challenge, all you need is a computer or mobile device with internet access. Our website, akadalearn.com, is user-friendly and easy to navigate, so simply register and start participating.

Is there a time limit for the challenge?

Yes, the challenge will have a time limit of 1 hour. Students will have the flexibility to choose a time slot between 8:00 AM on the 27th and 4:00 PM on the 28th of January 2023.

What is the format of the challenge?

What rewards are there for participating?

  • All Participants will receive a certificate of participation after the first challenge.
  • Participants who achieve a relatively pass mark will receive a free “I love maths” badge.
  • Additionally, after taking up to 5 challenges, outstanding participants will qualify for the final challenge, which gives the best participant access to scholarship funds.

Are there practice questions available on the platform for the students to use?

Yes, we have video lessons with questions and answers for all classes, especially for primary students in grades 1 to 3 and junior secondary students. These videos can help students improve their academic performance as they prepare for the challenge. To access all of our resources, you may need to subscribe as a premium member.

How do you check to ensure students do not cheat?

  • We understand that maintaining the integrity of the challenge is important, and we have measures in place to ensure that students do not cheat.
  • For students taking the challenge at home, we rely on the support of parents to monitor their children and ensure they maintain a level of integrity while completing the challenge.
  • For students taking the challenge in school, we rely on the support of teachers to monitor their classes and ensure that students maintain a level of integrity during the challenge.
  • However, to determine the outstanding student, there will be a special challenge under our supervision where we ensure that students are not cheating and maintain the integrity of the challenge.
